The Physiologically Difficult Airway

The Physiologically Difficult Airway course aims to provide knowledge on physiologic derangements that could result in a difficult airway and strategies to prevent and/or treat those derangements from resulting in more serious complications.

Course Objectives

  1. Define and differentiate the physiologically difficult airway from the anatomically difficult airway.
  2. Identify the most common physiologic derangements that can result in a difficult airway.
  3. Discuss the strategies to prevent and/or avoid complications from these derangements when performing tracheal intubation.

Contact Hours Awarded

Participants will be awarded 0.75 contact hours with 0.25 pharmacology hours. 

Contact hours will be awarded upon completion of the activity and by obtaining an 80% or greater on the post-activity quiz.
