Electrifying Insights: A Comprehensive Guide to EKG Interpretation

Course Coming Soon!

EKGs are one of the most common non-invasive diagnostic modalities used across healthcare settings. They are a vital part of cardiac assessment and remain the gold standard for diagnosing certain conditions, e.g., ST-elevation myocardial infarction. While historically reviewed by specific providers and specialties, there is a increase in APPs reviewing and interpreting EKG findings to make aid with treatment decisions, necessitating a need to maintain competency. The course, Electrifying Insights: A Comprehensive Guide to EKG Interpretation, aims to increase knowledge on EKG fundamentals, waveform analysis, and strategies for assessing cardiac rhythms.

Course Objectives

  1. Identify the purpose of performing EKGs and the information provided
  2. Explain the basic anatomy and electrical conduction of the heart
  3. Understand importance of lead placement and their respective views of cardiac activity
  4. Identify, interpret components of EKG waveforms, and recognize normal and abnormal patterns
  5. Apply EKG interpretation skills to assess cardiac rhythms
  6. Discuss ethical considerations and interdisciplinary collaboration
