Recognition & Management of Patients in Cardiogenic Shock

The Recognition & Management of Patients in Cardiogenic Shock course aims to provide knowledge on how to correctly identify, initiate management and treatment, and collaborate with the interprofessional team to ensure patients with cardiogenic shock receive timely and effective care. 

Course Objectives

  1. Define cardiogenic shock. 
  2. Identify common etiologies of cardiogenic shock. 
  3. Discuss the pathophysiology and clinical sequelae. 
  4. Describe the clinical presentation of patients in cardiogenic shock.
  5. Differentiate cardiogenic shock from other shock states.   
  6. Identify priority interventions in the medical management of cardiogenic shock. 
  7. Recognize patients in need of evaluation for transfer to a tertiary care center.

Contact Hours Awarded

Participants will be awarded 1.25 contact hours with 0.25 pharmacology hours.
